Romania
Hunting for woodpigeons and turtle doves in Romania with AVPS Hunter Kris, a professional hunting association specializing in migratory hunting and active since 1995. The package includes 3 days of hunting and 4 nights full board, with a prepared hunting ground, professional guide, and hunting dogs. These two species find their ideal habitat on the banks of the Danube, a wetland and wild area among the richest in Europe for biodiversity. Romania is an interesting destination for woodpigeon hunting during migration periods, thanks to its vast territories, environments favorable for passage, and the possibility of organizing targeted trips for the species. It is a hunt that requires timing, reading the territory, and correct planning of the days. The package is reserved for groups of 4 to 8 hunters. The hunting period runs from September 1st to February 10th. What is included Included are lunch or dinner on the day of arrival, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, accommodation in a double or single room, full board with breakfast, lunch, and dinner, transport from the accommodation to the hunting ground with specially equipped 4x4 off-road vehicles, assistance for the entire duration of the hunt, the setup and complete preparation of the hunting ground, a professional hunting guide, hunting dogs, hunting authorizations, and a temporary hunting licence. What is not included Not included are travel to and from Romania, weapon rental (only for bird hunting: Beretta, Benelli, Franchi, €25 per weapon per day per hunter) and cartridges (Fiocchi, RC, BP, from €0.65 to €1.30 each, with a maximum of 500 cartridges per hunter per day). Weapons and cartridges are paid for at the end of the hunt. Also not included are the translation of documents into Romanian (€95 per hunter, for all documents) and hunting insurance for those who do not have it (€85 per hunter). What kind of hunting to expect Woodpigeon hunting in Romania is not repetitive: it is a hunt of movement and timing, which yields results when undertaken at the right time and in selected territories. The key factor is migratory movement: some periods can be very interesting, others less productive if approached rigidly. For this reason, it is suitable for those who accept a non-static hunt, are willing to read the territory and conditions, and prefer a flexible approach. The territories include large agricultural areas, natural transit areas, and sparsely urbanized environments, which allow for observation, targeted movement, and rapid adaptation to the day's movements. Best period First, choose the species, then the period. Generally, autumn is the most interesting phase, but useful windows depend on seasonal trends, weather conditions, and the migratory dynamics of the year. Trips planned without considering movement risk being ineffective. How the trip is organized The days are planned by analyzing movements, choosing spots based on conditions, and maintaining operational flexibility. A duration of 3-4 days allows for concentrated hunting in a main area; with 5-7 days, there is more room to adapt to conditions. Trips that are too short leave little room for maneuver. The agency handles the organization of the hunting program; hunters are responsible for respecting the program and instructions to enjoy a successful hunt. Who it is recommended for The experience is suitable for hunters with experience in migratory hunting and for groups who want a real, non-standardized hunt, accepting a component of reading and adaptation. It is less suitable for those seeking a guaranteed hunt regardless, have very little time, or want rigid and predefined schemes. Required documents A valid gun license and hunting licence for the current year, hunting insurance, and a valid passport or identity card are required. All documents must be translated into Romanian: the translation is done by the agency, at a cost of €95 per hunter for all documents.
