Why Croatia

The package on Wildoora is devoted to woodcock, in the reserves near Split, in the Knin or Korenica areas. Depending on the weather you can hunt in the mountains or on the plains, over about 100,000 hectares of habitat suited to woodcock.

How it works

• How much game: according to the agency, a group of hunters normally sees 10-12 woodcock a day; on the best days 15-20 per hunter.
• Getting there: by car along the Trieste-Rijeka-Split (Knin) motorway, about 350 km from Trieste, or by ferry from Ancona to Split (two sailings a week, according to the agency).
• Length: the package is 2 hunting days with 3 nights.

Documents and firearms

The rules are set by the authorities and differ from country to country. If a package does not say which documents are included, ask the agency. In general, organisers ask for:

• ID card or passport (for some destinations, a copy to be sent in advance).
• A valid hunting licence from your own country.
• Hunting insurance valid abroad.
• If you bring your own gun: the firearm paperwork and, for hunters from EU countries, the European Firearms Pass listing the guns (usually two at most). Hunters living outside the EU should ask the agency what applies to them.
